Does anybody know how to fix a flickering screen?

I have a 22” VIZIO model with a built-in stand. When I turn it on, the light usually flickers, and so does the screen. The light is old, and likely is dimming with age. The screen issues started with the bottom half sometimes dimming for small periods of time. This soon elongated, and then started occurring with the top half instead. Later, this began happening with the entire screen. Now, the screen flickers rapidly, dim and normal brightness. (Also, the remote broke a while ago, so, is there a place where a remote for this TV is available?)

In this scenario, the LCD or backlight cable may be loose. If this is not the issue, then the problem is in either the motherboard or display. As for the remote, you can check with the manufacturer, or can find a replacement on second-hand sites like eBay or buy a universal remote (I have NEVER had luck with these, use them as a last resort).
