One night,a couple of days back, I put it into the sleep mode closing the lid and in the morning I found it totally blank. Pressed the power on button and it came to life. Expecting some problem I tried to rest it through a reboot commend. Battery was at 40 % level. After that it was completely dead !

Tried all possible suggested methods, 10 sec switch off, disconnect battery, disconnect keyboard and reconnecting charger, SMC reset, PRAM resent nothing really worked. I spent several hours on it and there was no success. In the end put a removable bootable drive and pressed the power switch together with "option" button. Kept the option button pressed for sometime and then there were intermittent bips - three at a time+ the fan started running. I switched off pressing the power button and switched on again. All the time the magsafe was connected. No success. After about 30 min found the fan running at high speed. After a power cycle everything was nice. Don't really understand what happened.

My MacBook Air "Core i5" 1.4 13" (Early 2014) A1466 also completely dead. It charges but it will not turn on. I have tried resetting SMC, other resets as well it's just dead completely! I think my devices were on charge and same thing happened to my iphone 5 as well. Could be some spike in the electricity or something. I'm not worried about my iphone I need to bring back my Air to life. Any ideas people?

Hold down the power button for about 10 seconds, and then try powering it back on. Sometimes Apple laptops with near-dead batteries will get stuck in a sleep state, and it's necessary to kill the power.

If that doesn't work, unscrew and take off the bottom casing, disconnect the battery, and see if your machine powers on with the battery disconnected. If it does, power off and reconnect the battery and power the machine on. You're most likely fine. If it doesn't, you've got bigger issues.

The Air should start with a dead battery on wall-plug power alone. You could try to disconnect the battery and try it with just the charger, Hope it helps.

I disconnected the battery and turned on the computer with the charger and the computer turned on. The battery is fully drained. ¿What can be done in these cases to put the battery back to work?
