Using 5th gen classic logic board in 5th gen video?

I have an Ipod video 5th generation 80 gb with a broken charge port. I also have an Ipod classic 5th generation 80 gb. Can I replace the logic board in my Ipod video with the logic board from my ipod classic?

As you mentioned the 5th gen is the iPod video, the iPod Classic is NOT a 5th gen but either a 6th or 7th generation...:-) and again, they are NOT compatible.

No - the boards between the plastic faced Video and Classic are different.

You can either just buy a board (or board and frame), but your S/N will no longer match or a parts iPod you can fix by either stealing parts from yours. If the donor is too nice to strip, you can always use your good parts to rebuild the donor iPod.
