iPhone fell into a pool and wont turn on(keeps rebooting)

My friend dropped the iphone into a pool, i quickly got it out and dried it. I put it in rice for 2 days then i tried to turn it on but it had ran out of power (the logo with the battery and the sign that means connect to power) when i connected it to a wall charger it turned on and told me i need to activate it (it also said it had 100 precent battery).

When i disconnected it to plug it into the computer it shut off and when i plugged it into the computer it loops on the apple logo (when i return it to the wall charger it boots ok but keeps saying that i need to activate it). I put it in dfu mode (later on also tried in recovery mode) and tried to restore, it gave me a message The iPhone could not be restored and unknown error occurred (1611). The apple site tells me its a hardware problem.

Can this be fixed or should i buy a new phone?

Thanks,

Dan

Take your phone apart, there may be corrosion on the logicboard rice left behind, you need isopropyl alcohol 99% to clean it and this will prevent future damage

After that is done, you might have to reset it, this is your best bet

Hold home and power and let go as soon as the apple logo comes up

Being you tried DFU mode, if it still fails, the logicboard may be bad

Thanks but because i have no apple stores in my country i went to my carriers store (didnt buy it from them) and checked how much it will cost to buy a new one. Apperently a new one with a plan cost less than my old plan alone so i took it.

Still i appreciate your answer and wil try to fix it and give\sell it.

dan..do the ipa clean...this is most likely your battery at fault, the symtoms are pretty typical. the sooner you get in there and clean it the more likely you are to get it up and running. there is a huge market for waterdamaged iphones because people can easily fix them...clean, new battery, sell it!

Some people buy them to use as thier main phones pollytintop, I bought a iPhone 3Gs from a friend for 5$ water damaged, used ipa and it worked! Now I have 2 iPhones, 3Gs and 4, too bad 2 15$ data plans are out of reach:(

And I can upgrade my data plan for the same price as using 2 iPhones
