Lost Most of the Volume on my Big Blue Party speaker.

All of a sudden, after a 2-3 years of perfect use the volume on my speaker went away. I have it at maximum and it barely can be heard. I really liked my speaker and wish to hopefully continue to enjoy it.

Any suggestions / recommendations?

I just had this happen to me a few weeks ago. I was devastated, but just now I was looking up possible solutions and came across your thread and randomly thought about going to my Bluetooth on my phone and selecting “forget decide” and repairing and IT WORKER!! Back in business baby!!

I was going to cry, because this is a sealed unit and Brookstone disappeared. Unpaired ... and paired it again to my phone and the volume reset to his usual loud boom bass. Thanks!!!

So I got this speaker from my neighbor and it's worked perfectly for over a year. All of a sudden I went to plug it in today and most of the sound was gone. I messed with the settings for over an hour. I figured, before I gave up and sold it for $1 at my garage sale, I'd try a new power cord and it worked!! All the sound is back!!! Yay!

Thank you Nick! I just learned it is been recalled... but... I still wish I could use mine. Not sure what other brand I could purchase that gives the same quality of sound.

@romanovs everything else works just no volume? what have you checked? Could be an issue with the amp, power board, speaker and so on. Since it got recalled because of fire hazards based on the battery I am certain that it is not related. Let's see if we can get this thing back in working order. We can always reverse engineer the battery issue and make it safe as well. Check on here to see if that gets you into your speaker. If so, post plenty of pictures of your boards etc. with your QUESTION so that we can see what you see. Adding images to an existing question

@oldturkey03 Yes, everything else works... The volume I put at maximum and I can hear it similar to the minimum volume... I guess I would have to take it to a repair place as I know nothing of fixing speakers... I was hoping it would be simple. Thank you for your reply though.

by

@romanovs okay so you can hear things just not very loud?

by

@oldturkey03 , yes, I can hear things but at about 1/10th of the volume. Thank you!

@romanovs first suspect bad amplifier IC

It shouldn't be difficult to make the battery safe, but it isn't something I think most DIYers can handle. The real solution is probably going to lie with a more paranoid BMS that supports the same configuration. The problem is finding one that plays nice with the speaker. In theory it shouldn't be hard, but the form factor needs to be a match or a close enough match.

Yes, it can be done but I prefer to err on the side of caution and tell people to not use them when they fail. It's fine when it's okay but with no battery, but it may be a little much to repair.

I reset the “forget this device” in Bluetooth

and it worked! Can’t believe I didn’t do this in the beginning. I contemplated on taking it apart. been using this speaker for almost seven years!

I took out the battery, because of over charging and possible fire. I just use the regular plug and it works great.
