When powering on my vu 32 inch full hd led TV backlight flashes once

When powering on my vu 32 inch full hd led TV (model- 32d6545) backlight flashes only once and thereafter the screen goes black with sound only. I checked the voltage on led supply pin. When I power on the TV and the “VU” logo appears, the voltage is 76 volts but just after that the logo dissappears and voltage drops to 44 volts. What is the reason?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Shine a torch at an angle close to the screen and check if there is still an image there when the sound is on and the screen is black.

Can you view the menu screens OK?

It may be a software problem or a problem with the mainboard that is telling the power board to turn off the backlights.

Have you tried using different input/input types e.g. HDMI, AV, Component video co-ax to check if the TV works OK?

What else have you tried besides testing the backlight voltage?

by

Yes. Images are ok with no backlight. I have also checked all the connections.

Hi,

Can you see the menu screens you didn't say?

by

Yes. And I have already done a factory reset. But there's no change.

Ajay Kumar Tiwari since you still show power on the LED lines when it turns off it does sound like an issue with either the main board or the power board. We need to see your boards to determine which line is the enable backlight connection. Post some good images of your boards with your question so we can see what you see. For now I would approach it with measuring the backlight enable then check the main board then power board.

Hi @oldturkey03 ,

I'm wondering if it is firmware or as you say a mainboard problem.

The OP says that he can see the menu screens OK so the power board would be OK, backlights just not being turned on when connecting video via all inputs apparently. Firmware?

Hi @ Ajay Kumar Tiwari,

Not much info online but try and do a software update via the menu screens which you said that you can see OK and I'm assuming that the TV is connected to the internet.

If there is no response when trying this, then contact Vu TV and ask if there is a software download available for your exact model that may be able to be manually installed.

Hi @jayeff I totally missed this "The OP says that he can see the menu screens OK " and you are absolutely right. That will rule out the power board. Since the menu shows even the main board is less likely candidate. There are cases there it is the T-con board that can cause this. I agree with you on at least checking the firmware.

Thank you all for the support. I will try to get the update. OTA update is not possible because this is a non smart TV.

Hi @Ajay Kumar Tiwari,

If there is no positive response from Vu try to find a replacement mainboard as this is where the firmware is stored.

Search online using the mainboard "board" number which is printed on the board and match it to the exact TV model number

Thanks for the suggestion. I will try to find any substitute.
