I think I've tried everything to fix water damage. Please help!

Not too long ago I put my 2nd Gen. iPod Touch in the same bag with my water bottle. I wasn't aware that the bottle was cracked and it leaked in my bag, drowning my iPod.

As soon as I retrieved it from the bottom of my bag I attempted to turn it off, but I was unable to do so because I couldn't slide the turning off thing that normally comes up (perhaps because of the water under the screen?). I then watched helplessly as the screen faded from normal brightness to dim and then off.

I ran back home shaking as much water as I could out of it and then placed it in a bowl of rice where it has been sitting until now. (9 days since the accident) I've tried plugging it into the computer (the USB ports are often non-functioning which I'm praying is the case) but nothing is happening.

My question is this: Is there anyway I can fix my iPod at this point, or is he pretty much a gonner?

Thank you for your time.

Hi, I am including a link to ifixits guide for cleaning items with water problems. Please give it a try--you may need to replace the battery.

Great advice and links..I'm pretty sure oldturkey would agree with you fully..clean, then replace battery before you do anything else.
