Brand new battery, and memory card, screen just says EOS. When I power it off it still says EOS, when battery is out then it goes back to blank. What do you think the issue is?

Hi @colinbrady21 ,

Sounds as though the camera’s firmware gets hung up when the camera is turned on.

Try a power reset to see if this clears the problem.

Turn the camera off if it is switched to on.

Remove the main battery and the date and time back up battery (take note its’ orientation) from the camera,

Turn the camera’s power switch to the On position for about 30 seconds to dissipate any residual power in the camera.

Switch the camera off and then re-insert the date and time backup battery and the main battery.

Turn on the camera and check what happens.

Here’s an image taken from the user manual that shows how to remove the date and time battery.

If this does clear the problem and you notice that the date and time always has to be adjusted when you turn on the camera after it has been turned off then the date and time battery will need to be replaced. It is not a rechargeable battery.
