Goes out of balance when empty

I just got a used washing machine and when I tried it empty it went off balance. The guy I got it from said it’s the springs and he went to get some. My question really is. Does the washer go off balance because it’s empty? Thanks

@lorelei29 yes it can do that especially if it has a weak spring etc., and there is always a bit of a risk to buy used. Parts are most likely readily available so if the price is good it’s okay to deal with it. If you give us the complete model number we can most likely assist you further with this.

Thanks for helping. The model number is 82881110. Before those it’s says 110. I don’t know if that goes with or not. Thanks again for trying to help.
