Can I replace the 1To HDD by a smaller SDD (500Go for example)

Hi,

I would like to upgrade from HDD to an SSD but considering the price I wouldn’t mind a smaller drive but I have a doubt concerning the cloning from 1To to 500Go, is it possible ? considering I only have 70Go of data on the 1To drive.

Thanks in advance,

PS: sorry for mistakes, french here.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi there. You can clone the drive no problem. As long as you don’t have more than 500GB of data on the drive and you said you only used about 70GB so you’re fine. The cloning software will resize the partitions to make it fit on the 500GB drive. You can get a Samsung Evo 860 series for under $150 if that’s in your price rang because a 500Gb is about $80. Can get them on eBay even cheaper brand new.
