Same problem, mine was used 3 times and stopped turning on.

It would be nice if they would either recall or replace these

by

I didn’t see this when I checked for reviews.

I’m also having same problems

Ok people, like everyone else, I have the same problem with my Hoover Power Dash and I almost was ready to throw it away! I had it outside for a year and after reading everyone’s comment, I decided to clean it up and try to power it. I used the plug outside the house 120v and Holy Smokes it power up!!!! When I tried to plug it in inside the house, no power! What does this mean?? I don’t know but I tried it on every plug in the house and no power. Only work with the extension cord plugged from outside!!!

Update from 4/21/22

madmom1256  no fuse on your vacuum. Sounds like either a bad switch or bad wire. Use a multimeter and check if you get power to the switch. If you have trouble with the disassembly etc. Let us know your Hoover’s exact make and model number.

I bought my Hoover pet cleaning machine a year ago worked Great 5 times getting up spots but it made aloud noise brush still rolling and got a smell of wires or belt burning to where my fire alarms went off and now will not start back. What do we do? To all the comments it look as if there is a lot of complaints with the exact problem. They should be recalled !’n

You should try to re-solder the switch. You can take it off by unscrewing the screws in the handle and if the solder joints are fine then try to replace the switch.

Used my carpet cleaner 2 times, on living room area rugs and now it won't turn on. This seems to be a problem with this product and it needs to be put on a product recall list. I never have liked Hoover products but I thought I'd give this carpet cleaner a try, what a mistake that was! It didn't even clean my rugs very well at all. Piece of junk. No wonder it was on sale, got it at Wal-Mart for $79. dollars.

@kathyawalters Seems like the motor has gone bad. You can order a replacement motor. Just look up the model number followed by replacement motor. You can find a replacement guide on the internet.

If all our mothers went bad hover owes us all money since I am not getting answered how to fix it

I just removed my red toggle switch from my Windtunnel 2, which stopped operating. Low and behold, no continuity in the on or off position. It may also be related to the flash of light I saw at the switch when I tried to start it as usual. Don't try if you aren't sure what I am describing, but I intend to wire it with a heavy gauge copper wire and use the outlet for the time being as the on-off switch until I can find a replacement. (Guests are coming over tomorrow and it's late:)

Update: Removed the rubber insulation from both (detached) leads into the switch. Sandwiched them together and held in place with a small, plastic clamp. Plugged in, and ran for 30 seconds. Unplugged, checked for heat or smell, none. Plugged in and ran for 2 minutes. Still functioning properly. I'll find a replacement switch tomorrow, but I'm not paying a professional $120 to replace a crappy switch. Don't try at home.
