making seal around door tight so does not ice up

The seal is not tight and the upright freezer door does not seal right. It ices up badly and really shortly after defrosting it. repairmen say is more expensive to replace seal than to buy a new freezer. Surely that is not right. I have cleaned the seal really good but you can see where it is not sealing when the door is shut. How do I fix that? Some type of glue or silicone like you use in bathroom around tub?

Answer this question I have this problem too

If you stuff your freezer the way I do, there maybe something that’s holding it open slightly.

Hi,

You most probably will have to replace the door seal (aka door gasket).

Here’s a link to the door gasket for your model taken from the door parts diagram from this supplier’s website. (door part #8)

It is only shown to give an idea of what it looks like and the cost of the part.

There are other suppliers online that may suit you better.

Just search for WP4-81049-001 to get results.

Not sure with your model whether the gasket is held in by screws or it is a push fit into a groove.

There a videos on YouTube that show how to replace refrigerator door gaskets which may be of some help.
