My laptop still won’t charge

Hello I have a Compaq CQ57. I replaced the MB and the CMOS battery, and my laptop still won’t charge. I also bought a new battery and still nothing. The LED that comes on when you plug it in won’t come on. Any ideas?

Hi @coryridlington ,

Did you check the output from the charger to make sure that it is working OK i.e supplying 19.5V DC?

Have you tried a different compatible charger and see if that charges the laptop OK?

Have you checked that the power connector cable in the laptop is OK? It may be that there is a faulty DC-In jack attached to the cable.

Here’s a link to the Maintenance and service guide for the laptop.

Scroll to p.60 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the power connector cable.

If the DC-In jack is faulty, (use an Ohmmeter to prove continuity through the jack) the part number is 641394-001.

If you search online using the part number only in the search term of your browser, you will get results for suppliers of the part
