Two layers to MB Pro 13" display glass?

The Product Overview for the MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2009/Mid 2010) Front Display Glass says: "This part is the front half of the display glass only". I'm not sure what that means. My MB Pro's display works fine but the glass is broken. Are there two layers? I don't understand if I need another part beyond this one.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

it seems that there are two layers, if you take it in to an authorized Mac Service Provider just remember to specify that you want the "glass panel" replaced and NOT the LCD. Below is a video on how to do it, i STRONGLY recommend getting a professional to do this job, this is not a regular DIY. Not to mention finding a replacement glass yourself is not going to be an easy task as it is not a typical item. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4LLOhLH2...

I stand corrected! Here is a link from ifixit for a new display front glass

[linked product missing or disabled: IF163-017]

Also here is their install guide, i still recommend taking it to a professional.

Thanks, Travers. I had found the iFixit glass display part, just wasn't clear if that was all I needed. I think it is. The video link you provided of the Small Dog Electronics technician removing the glass convinced me to try it. It really doesn't look that difficult, and with my glass already broken, I don't have to worry about breaking it! OTOH, that could make it difficult to get all the adhered pieces off. I saw other YouTubes that were good demonstrations of how NOT to do this repair!
