the little plastic separator inside the charging port broke off and I was wondering if it is worth trying to replacing?

It can be done, but take your time!
There are no guides on how, but my only advice is use a very small soldering tip and this will be much easier
I repaired my friend's touch(his dog knocked it off the table and the connector for the cable broke in it with no luck removing it
Go to radio shack and find a sldering iron with a small tip or a seprate tip
follow this guide, I do not have time to write a guide yet, but I will

It depends how involved you want to get and if you have access to the parts. Also, since there is some soldering involved, your skill level will matter. Which HTC is it?
