iPhone 8 Home button not working

Hello,

I got a damaged iPhone 8 without iCloud but broken display and back, the old original display was not working at all, I couldn’t even test it, the cables were ripped. So I ordered a cheap screen from amazon to test if the phone is working and really iCloud free (no Sim tray so i didn’t knew the IMEI). Tested the screen without anything, just the screen. Worked perfectly! Then I installed the home button, but it doesn’t work at all, no Touch ID no home button, just nothing. Honestly I wouldn’t mind having no Touch ID, but the Home button and everything looks pretty good, I repaired many i-Devices in the last 5-7 Years, I’ve never broke the home button/touch id by removing it. Could this be the fault of the cheap screen? I mean it works pretty well, touch response is good, brightness and everything is fine.

I got the same error message with or without home button connected.

Hope anyone can help me out. Thanks

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the connector for the button. If that doesn’t work, then I’m going to assume that you may have accidentally tore the flex cable.
