iPod classic 160g not working

I went into my purse and found my ipod on with a double arrow next to the battery and the screen is frozon in now playing mode. It won't respond to any command. Help!

The first thing to try would be to do a hard reset. Just hold down the center button and the menu button until the Apple Logo appears.

If this doesn't do the trick, try plugging it in, connect to iTunes, and restore the device. Be careful, restoring the device will remove your music from it. Make sure you have all the music backed up before restoring.
