Where is the IR Receiver on the new Mac mini?

The USB hardware configuration indicates that there is an IR Receiver on my new (Aug 2011) Mac mini, but I have no idea where it is. Does anybody know?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I too would like to know where, on the OUTSIDE, this port is. It would have been great to simply answer this as "in the front, on the lower left" (or right, or wherever it is). You can't tell from the disassembly photos.

@Scott Prive - It's surprisingly very visible. Here's an image of the front:

The larger dark spot on the right front is the IR sensor and to the right the smaller one is the power LED.

Thanks SO much Dan. I thought those were power LED and perhaps a microphone... I needed confirmation before I spent the $20 to purchase an Apple remote.

(My 2011 Mini came without remote... and while I know Apple no longer supports Apple TV on the Mini, thankfully Plex supports it.)

I'm playing my movies from my mini via an Apple TV unit so I'm not sure I follow you here.

@Scott Prive Dan is almost always correct - Confirmed.

Well Dan, you were wrong slightly on a question a couple of years ago. I wanted some wiggle room.

We show you where the IR sensor is located in Step 16 of our teardown. It's attached to a plastic bracket and is one of the last things to come out.
