Does the 1988 toyota pickup have a check engine light. I went to get it smogged, the smog tech said he couldnt do the test because my check engine light was not coming on. My boyfriend checked for the check engine light but couldn't find it

The check engine light should flash when you turn the key to start.

Shine a flashlight towards the cluster to see if it will appear, it might be in the row of IDIOT lights under all the gauges, look under the fuel gauge on the right hand side ??
