Replaced headphone jack -how does the ribbon attach to the plastic tab

Taken apart my ipod as per instructions, all good except cant get the headphone jack ribbon to connect to lift up plastic tab. There doesn’t seem to be any clamp on it to hold the ribbon in place.

I don’t think anything broke off on removal, Old ribbon looks the same as new one.

Be grateful for any advice on how to secure the ribbon and ensure good contact.

many thanks

@mjw01 there has to be a plastic tab that gets flipped up to disconnect and pressed down the reconnect the cable.

Check to see if it is in the down position. If it is not then it is missing. Post some good pictures of the connector with your QUESTION so we can see what you see Adding images to an existing question

@mjw01 okay so just checked one of my boards and looks the same.

Tab open

Tab closed

All you would have to do is to insert the ribbon cables between the tab and the connector and close the tab

Thanks @oldturkey03 appreciate the help. I agree it looks the same but the tab doesn’t seem to hold in place when it is closed and I’m worried the connection won’t be made.

I’ll have a go and test it before I close it up. Any other suggestions welcome! (tape the connector in the closed position ?)
