Can you swap a broken homebutton with another phones homebutton?

If I use another IPhone’s home button in my phone’s home button will it enable touch ID function or are the home buttons unique to each phone?

No. iPhone 8 home button is totally not repairable, nothing will work properly.

So even with another 8 plus's home button from a function phone the one with the broken one will not enable touch id?

That is correct. You might get back home button functionality, but touch id won't work, because the fingerprint sensor in the button is "married" to your phones logicboard

Okay I understand fully now and will simply opt out and buy a home button with no touch ID functionality.
