Can I upgrade my hdd over 500gb (apple's recommended limit)

So before I even had fun with my Mac, I noticed that 160gb was far too less for my daily routine of storing stuff. That is why I upgraded to a WD Scorpio blue 500gb 5400rpm. Worked out fine. I installed a 500gb drive because apple says it can only hold up to 500. Is it possible and safe to install a 640,750 or even 1tb drive in my Mac? A side note: does 7200rpm affect the computer at all? Thanks a lot!

thanks man, I was thinking of upgrading from my 500gb scorpio blue to a 750gb scorpio blue 2.5 cuz i know this seller (my uncle) that is willing to sell me one for $80. If I can, do you think this is a worthy upgrade?

I prefer the 7200 rpm drives when upgrading. But if you don't have an external back up drive you're asking for problems. I keep five 2.5" drives in stock because I replace so many.

Ok, that means I can install scorpio black and have no problems? I'm afraid it won't run correctly because of the age of my mac. Also, can this mac run 1333mhz ram? thanks in advance.

The age of your Mac? What you 17? The Scorpio blacks will be just fine for you. DO NOT upgrade your RAM speed. You can upgrade to 8 GB of RAM if you have more money than sense. 4 GIGs is plenty for your machine. You can look it over here: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ma...
