Replaced Battery isn't recognized

I just replaced battery and it is not recognized, shows X in battery life display. I can only use laptop when plugged in, once I remove power cord it shuts off.

Sounds like you got a bad battery. Where did you get it?

its either wrong type/ bad battery or not hooked up properly

So what is the correct type of battery or how should the battery connected. Come on guy! No fluff answers do the research its all in front of you!

Would this have been helpful? MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 Battery Replacement Which its for a slightly older model it turns out to be the same. So what does that tell you?

Is it possible to test the battery? Are there apps which can read the output of the charger and what the battery can supply as well as other information? Maybe this app? CoconutBattery
