Liquid damage and corrosion on MacBook Pro

Block Image

A cup of coffee spilt on my 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. We didn’t have the correct screwdriver to take it apart. Once we got it 30 hours later and took the laptop apart, it shows a lot of corrosion. Is it worth trying to fix it or should we just accept our loss? It was on when the coffee spilled and cut off fairly quickly

@katiear post some good pictures of your board and the corroded area. that way we can see what you see and can probably identify the area and components which may help for further troubleshooting.

In my opinion it is always worth a try, one never knows, although logic board most probably suffered some damage the earlier you take care of oxides and further corrosion, the better it is. It’s still a very valuable Mac and there are several Techs around the globe who take care of component level repairs and might be able to fix damage for a fraction of the cost of a used Mac of the same series.
