What's this cable for? I accidentally separated a metal plate

Block Image

What’s this cable for? I accidentally separated the black cable from a metal plate that’s sticking to the screen, i tried to pry the cable but my pry tool somehow went in between the plate and the cable causing a portion of it separating, will this affect my touch id? And is this plate important? Or just a plate to keep the ribbon cable down?

Update (10/07/2019)

This is the exact plate, the corner is slightly separated from the ribbon cable, it’s not torn or anything, the adhesive is just loose. Should i be concerned???

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

willarth.sopa  sure looks like a torn home button cable. Not to many people that I know can actually repair this cable. You would be looking at a replacement home button but “note that only the phone's original home button assembly will be capable of using the Touch ID functionality. Installing a new home button will only restore ordinary home button functions, not the Touch ID features.” from [iPhone 6 Home Button Replacement |here]

Actually it's not torn, i'm just bothered that the ribbon cable and the plate that is adhered to the lcd is slightly separated, the touch id and home button is fine, that cable is the cable from the backplate to the touch id

willarth.sopa if it is not torn, protect it with some sort of adhesive tape securing it back to the plate. No harm no foul

oldturkey03 is right. It will be fine. You can stick it down with double sided tape if you are worried.
