I think those are both separate chips that you mentioned.

The charging ic (Tristar U2) chip used on 7 and 7 plus are the same indeed.

OP make sure to reball the chip before putting it onto the other phone or else the solder balls under the chip dont melt on to the board properly.

Thank you Ben and arbaman. I checked with the Servicing centers here but they are not ready to replace. Saying that those both are different and we cannot take out a IC from one mobile and place it on the other phone.

@sruthimeda Well, it's not a particularly easy job, it requires proper tools and skills to be done. A fine dexterity gained with lots of practice has to be there to achieve a successful result. It's good someone can see one's own limits, but I can ensure you it can be done, the ICs are the same, with a brief google search you'll be able to verify for yourself. The two ICs in question are U4001 (Tristar) and U2101 (Tigris); you can see from schematics there are no differences, both phones iP7 and iP7+ use the same charging circuitries and components.

If the service center doesn't know that the two phones share the same charging circuit, I would certainly not trust them to do a BGA reball on my device. It's also much easier to install a new IC than to remove one from a donor device.

Everything points to a shop that doesn't know what they are doing, you would be best served by searching for a different shop that specializes in micro-soldering repairs.

@refectio That's a very good point :) However there are places on this beautiful and silly planet where people would drive you mad with all sorts of excuses rather than admitting they don't know how to do it.
