I cannot play music out of my external speakers. they work-tried them on anothewr pc. I have been to the sound options in my settings and it only gives me one option-internal speakers. How do i get the external speakers to play-thanks. Kevin

If they are speakers which are powered by the computer, i.e. they do not have an AC adapter of their own which plugs into the wall, then your laptop may not generate enough power to run them, whereas a desktop computer probably would. You may need to get smaller speakers, or speakers which have an AC adapter so that they are powered on their own.
Of course, this all depends on what you have, which we do not know yet.

Check that your speakers are compatible with your mac, they may just not be mac compatible.
