3.5mm headphone jack snapped off inside port

Hey guys

Recently i have purchased a i7 macbook pro ro find out the headphone jack has been snapped off inside. I googled it immediately and have found many people with this same problem - have speakers plugged in them they have knocked it off a table or something and the 3.5mm connector which plugs into speakers/headphones has snapped off inside.

This does not apply to only i7 macbooks but probably most macbooks previous as well.

There are remedies online using glue and on closer inspection there is actually glue inside the port so it looks like somebody has attempted to get it out by glueing something like a paperclip to it but has failed and infact made it worse by glueing the peice of 3.5mm jack into the socket.

I was thinking to use an electric drill with a very small drill bit to drill into to the broken peice about 5mm then pull it out. (as ive done this many times with threaded screws and even locknuts for mag wheels on cars and its worked) does anybody have a better idea? Or come across this problem before?

Apparently drilling is dangerous because the wifi is right next to the port so if u drill too far u are likely to loose wifi but since its glued in i cant think of anything else

Apparently removing the logic board will not help as it does not give you access to inside the 3.5mm port

Answer this question I have this problem too

you could try to use a long and small sheetmetal screw and see if you can screw it very lightly into the rest of the broken jack. Once it has enough grab try to pull it out slowly. Do not force the screw into the left over part since that could expand it and really get it stuck.

If you try to glue a smaller diameter piece to the broken off part make sure that you position your computer in such way that any excessive glue will not drip into the jack. So upside down would be the way to do it...Good Luck

try reglueing the jack together with gorilla glue with a little amount and then wait for it to dry and pull it out hope this works for you or any type of hard glue
