What to do about shattered piston!

i recieved one of these a while ago and the person i got it from said it had set up some 20 to 15 odd years and the last time it was parked it ran and ran good that they were practacly new but when i got it i tried to start it and it had some compression and would almost try start it got great spark i gave it to a friend to look at and he took the motor apart and said a piston is shattered how could this happen and could it be fixed

and if so how where can you buy parts for these

LMETFY parts are plenty on ebay here is the piston and cylinder. Of course there are also other sources like this and a Google search will probably reveal more. As for why it happens, there can be many reasons. Since it is a 2 stroke it wont have valves, that is a good thing. But if the piston had to much "slap" and was binding in the cylinder it may have cracked as well as scarred the cylinder walls. Anyhow, a good inspection will reveal more of what may have happened. Just in case you need the service manual , you can download it, as well as the parts manual from my little black book ;-) Good Luck
