LG OLED55B6P TV HDMI ports have been failing one by one

It is a couple years old, and its HDMI ports have been failing one by one over the span of months. Also, HDMI signals very occasionally black out for a few seconds and then come back. First, HDMI3 stopped working entirely. Then, HDMI2. Now, HDMI1 stopped, and only HDMI4 works at all. I've tried multiple devices as input, and rebooting & resetting the TV, but it doesn't make a difference. LG referred me to a technician, but it is out of warranty. Do you think this is likely a problem with the main board, and a replacement main board would be likely to fix it? Is this a relatively simple procedure? Thanks for the info!

I have the same issue.

My 65” LG OLED TV is about 4 years old, and its HDMI ports have been failing one by one. First, HDMI3 stopped working entirely. Now, when using HDMI1, HDMI2, or HDMI4 the TV screen will occasionally black out for a few seconds and then come back. The device connected to the TV is a DirecTV Genie mini. After contacting DirecTV technical support, they sent me a replacement Genie mini but the problem did not go away.

I used a computer monitor with an HDMI port to hook up the Genie mini and did not experience any issues….no more screen going black

I have a LG OLED55B6P TV with 4 HDMI ports...I just got a new XG1V4-A Box...I was having trouble with cable going out...I switched the hdmi ports and sometimes it fixed the issue. I can hookup firestick and it works fine...

Wondering if I should go back to an older box...seems as though it might be a problem with HDCP 2.2 spec...as bith source and destination must be compatible. Maybe there is a menu like deep color that needs to be turned on...it will take trial and error...or maybe this run has bad hdmi ports...who knows...but why would firestick work and new cable box work intermittently and then stop working...all I get is a black or blue screen

David, this sounds like an issue with the main board. Check all other video input sources first. That includes RCA Component, Coax, and whatever else you may have. Let us know if that made a change. If not it is most likely your main board that has a failed video processor.

I'm afraid this TV needs some special break out cable to use anything other than HDMI and I have misplaced that cable. However, the menu and apps like netflix have never given trouble, only HDMI. Actually, I forgot to mention that one of the three dead HDMIs still will give the little "input attached" message when I connect something to it, even though nothing displays when a switch to it. The other two dead HDMIs don't even have that message.

That'll lead us to a bad HDMI IC on the main board. So unless you have the right tools and skills to replace it I suggest you look for a main board and re-evaluate.

Thanks very much for your advice!

Can you open and see if there are any 'capacitors' leaking near the HDMI area of circuit board? (leaked capacitors are always problem. google for images)

May be your cable? or the connected device is sending something that destroys your HDMI.

It has happened on inputs the used different cables and different devices. No one cable or device has killed an input.
