Removing screen on iPad mini

im trying to change the battery on an iPad mini. I watched a video and it said I need to use a heat gun to remove adhesive. can I use something else other than wheat gun? I don’t want to have to buy one. maybe a hair drier? I know someone that put theirs in the microwave with something on it to remove the screen. Im not sure what to do. thanks.

A hair dryer may work fine. All you are trying to do is soften the adhesive. Caustion should be taken to prevent over heating the display as it can cause white areas on the display from over heating.

Putting electronics in a microwave will destroy it. The someone you refer to has a dead machine. You do not put metal into a microwave. What they probably put in the microwave was a heat bag which is then laid on the edge of the iPad to gently heat the adhesive.
