touchscreen faint,flashed then went blank

My 3g suddenly had a faint screen display but i could still file thru apps and open but touchscreen continued to fade. next morn it was black and unresponsive totaly. after connect to itune thru computer it showed i was connected and after while vibrate worked but still black. left hooked up all day recieved several calls that eve that i could not hear other party (they heard me though). Also have noticed that i can swipe in area of unlock and hear it click open but of course still black. even tho havent been able to use it is totaly dead next morn.
