LCD won't work, but everything else is great. Replaced LCD already.

Sorry, new to forum, so just posted same thing in similar thread, but shows up as answer, not a question, so posting again.

LCD screen not working - Replaced the LCD screen and still nothing.

Everything else is good with camera. Takes great photos, the EVF works OK. But too hard to use with ONLY the EVF.

Can think of 2 things;

1. Board on LCD fried - when replaced LCD used board from original

2.The button that switches between 3 options - LCD screen only, LCD screen & EVF or EVF only is STUCK?

The camera did get wet and I turned it on before realizing it was wet. When did this, the power button lit up, but then shut down. Once I dried everything out, all worked well (except the LCD screen).

Should I try to replace the board on the LCD? Suggestions on how to find the right one? Ordered 2 LCDs before I got the right one.

Would greatly appreciate any thoughts on what to try. Can’t afford to replace.

Just some thoughts if I were facing the same situation as yourself. The position right now is whether or not either LCD is malfunctioning. Considering the camera was subjected to liquid infiltration, the possibility of component damage to the circuit board is a given. Ordering a new circuit board should allow you to determine the viability of either LCD, while returning the new LCD for a replacement (using the reason it is non-functioning) will not allow the bit more flexibility (pertaining to my frame of reference) in determining the cause of the failure to the camera.

That said and done, you might also want to consider the information contain in the following article with respect to the possibility of future corrosion issues:

Lisa Armstrong I would replace the board next.Nikon Coolpix B700 LCD Screen Replacement

Biggest issue will be to find out if you have corrosion damage on your motherboard. For that you would really have to check it out. Use this guide and look at the motherboard Nikon Coolpix B700 Motherboard Replacement

Post some good images of what you find with your question so that we may continue to assist you. Just thought of something. Shine a flashlight at an angle against the screen with the camera being turned on. Can you make out a menu etc.? It is possible that this camera has a backlight fuse on the motherboard which if failed could give you the impression that the screen is not on.

Thanks so much. Your flashlight test did show an image on the screen. Wow-who knew!!!

Can the backlight fuse be replaced by the average handy human, or replace motherboard?

Thanks again for your help.

the fuse should be on the motherboard. We would need to see the board to make further determination. It can be soldered by someone who has good skills.
