Thick black bar in middle and on right side of screen

Block Image

Someone accidentally pulled on the cord of my old Element tv and it fell onto carpeting (not the super soft kind). The screen and everything else looks okay from the outside, but there are now two black bars on the screen when it is turned on. The tv still functions fine, but there is just something up with the display. Does anyone have any quick fixes or is this something I should just throw out?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

completely unplug it from the AC power source and open the back of the unit to check for loose connections, wires, cable, damaged components etc. be careful when touching any of the circuit boards as some components such as capacitors can retain a charge which can give a person quite a shock. If unsure about working with such conditions, then recycling or taking it to a repair shop is probably the best idea.

this “tangled in the cord of my old Element tv and it fell “ makes me immediately think of a broken screen. It will help if you post some pictures of what your screen looks like with those black bars. Post some good pictures of it with your question. Adding images to an existing question
