Can the ram be replaced even its soldered to the motherboard?

Can the ram be replaced by desoldering it and soldering on new memory?

With the right skills and tools anything is possible!

Sadly, replacing the RAM chips on the logic board here is not something a DIY can do. Between the cost of the tools and parts it would be much cheaper just to replace the logic board Mac mini A1347 (Late 2014) Core i5 1.4 GHz Logic Board.

Frankly, I would just get one of the newer 2018 models with the amount of RAM I needed.

Just a thought. Are you sure your unit has soldered in RAM (if indeed it's a Mac mini 2014 that is)? According to the following link from 6 years ago the RAM is not soldered in.

@propman - The CNet vid is on the 2012 model which did have accessible SO-DIMM RAM Mac mini Late 2012 RAM Replacement.

The 2014 has soldered RAM! I know Apple really stepped in it! Apple realized they messed up and went back to serviceable RAM in the 2018 model! Mac mini Late 2018 Memory (RAM) Replacement
