Jasmine, from the brief description you are offering I believe that it is the the harddrive or the HDD cable. I would use a USB-to_ZIF connector and check the drive separate from the iPod. Of course you could try a reset or a restore but my gut feeling is that you will need a new HDD. Not a very expensive or difficult fix and I would definitely fixit ;-) Good Luck
