Home button doesn't work and doesn't charge when connected?

OK a few weeks ago I dropped my iPhone. At first it worked fine however, later on the home button stopped functioning and there was no more sound when recieving a call, message or playing music through the speakers. The sound works when I have the earphones plugged in however. Also when I hook it up to charge wheather it be on my laptop or with the charger nothing happens. And now it's run out of batteries. Apart that everything else worked before it ran out of batteries. I believe that it's just a dock replacement that I need however could there be something else?

the iphone doesn't have any other battery/power. if your connection is damaged or loose there is no way of getting power to your in this case pressing the power button on a dead battery will not get a response. When you open the iphone to check your connector I would also test the output on your battery. If it is less than 2.6 it may be too dead to recharge, buy a new battery then you know that is good for a few more years yet.

The flex cable #4 simply has come loose. Carefully open iPhone and reconnect the Dock Port Flex Cable #4.

OK thanks I will try that. However one more thing. Is it normal that even though it's ran out of batteries that when I press the power button I don't even get the sign or a response ? Could there be another problem there ?
