1 Why is my RCA Viking Pro 10 losing power so fast?
So I have had this tablet for a few years. I received it as a gift. I haven't used it in a few months and was charging it one day to use. It charged fully and I unplug it to use it. A couple minutes later it shuts off. So I kinda forgot about it until today when I charged it to 100% again opened an app for a minute and noticed I only had 50% left and I looked at the battery in settings and the percentage kept going down on me and said I had 1 minute left. The charging end that plugs into the tab itself is a little bent vut I don't see that as an issue because it charges fine. So what could be the problem? I dont think the person who bought it bought a protection plan for it.
The battery percentage would rapidly go down every second.

Malfunctioning internal component and/or malfunctioning battery.
BTW, suggest you do not try rooting your device. Did that to mine and due to a small change in config text file, the tablet is caught in a boot loop with no access to recovery mode or options to edit the file. In linux making the same changes and then re-editing would be a trivial solution. For RCA, nope and that is why I will never buy any of their tablets again. Others mileage might vary on this topic.

Yes but there is no guarantee it will. Additionally unless you are willing to do the work yourself and have appropriate tools at hand, then by the time you have paid someone to do the repairs, I suspect you might as well just go and buy a new tablet. These Chinese manufactured tablets such as sold by RCA, Hipstreet etc are pretty much a recycling item once something goes wrong with them unless the owner, like myself, has masochistic tendencies and likes swearing at inanimate things a lot. lol There are also potentially hazard risks involved when dealing with the kind of batteries in these units (for example, if the battery is punctured there is a risk of it catching fire) and so research and safety are a priority.

@propman I don't see how the battery could be punctured if its been sitting in the tabletbitself and hasn't been touched. I doubt I would be given another tablet as a gift

@Leah Engen When removing/installing them. They are glued in. BTW, if you do decide to open the tablet and the battery is bulging in anyway at all, that means it has reached end of life and is malfunctioning and prone to rupture. Read up on how to deal with the device if upon opening the case you find the battery in such a condition. I don't have any links handy right now on that topic but please let me know if you require further information. :-)
