Laptop not turning on or charging. No light.

Brief History: Working all good for a few years. At one point the battery died. Never got to replace it but kept using the laptop with the battery unplugged. Which i assume may have been a bad idea. Nevertheless I used it for another year. I can not rememeber if the laptop stop working or i just got a new one.

Had it boxed for a couple of years and I have decided to try and start it up. I purchased a new battery plugged it in and no sign of life.

I tried all the removing the battery holding the power button and stuff and still nothing.

When the charger is connected there is no Green or Amber light.

When charger is connceted without battery the all of the small battery light at the side of the laptop flash.

When the battery is conected only one of the small battery lights flash.

Any ideas? Any help I will be very grateful :)

Update (08/15/2019)

Thank you for the quick response.

Doesn't want to boot at all. With all compilation of battery in, adapter out. Adapter in and battery out. And both in.

I checked the voltages. Both say 16.4V. pin 1 and 2 and pin 4 and 5.

Block Image

Pins 2 and 4 looked slightly damaged. They do not have a dome shape as pins 1 and 5.

The worn pins are from arcing like you can see here Lacking safety features, cheap MacBook chargers create big sparks which is a sign of a fake charger Compared: Fake vs Genuine Apple Magsafe Chargers These fake chargers will also damage your system.

Will it boot either with the mag-safe adapter connected or not? Will it boot with just the battery.

This sounds like a failed Mag-Safe adapter. Look at the pin to see if they are fully extended. You can use a plastic or wooden tooth pick to push on them.

To test use a multimeter.

Maks when you replace the Mag-Safe, get an original, not a knock off.

well the issue was with the middle one. it was fully pushed in. Works and charges. Very small absurd thing but very important.

Many thanks!
