Touch is not working

Hello.

I recently had a customer come in with a broken screen where it displayed image just fine, but the touch was not working anywhere on the screen. So naturally i assumed replacing the screen would do the trick. But still after replacing the screen the touch still don’t work. Image displays fine.

I know there is a small chance the screen i received is defective but it seems more likely to be something else. I have ordered a new screen to test it but in the meantime i was hoping maybe anyone got any suggestion for where to look?

I am not very familiar with the iPhone XS Max motherboard and i can’t seem to get the schematics for it yet.

All of the Touch logic is embedded into the screen so realistically, touch issues are usually screen related. Otherwise, look for connector damage on the logic board. You could also probe the connector in diode mode and compare to a known-good device (or a tool like ZXW). The XS Max has fundamentally the same design as the X so you could use the X schematic for your troubleshooting. I would focus on the touch related power rails to insure they are not shorted.

Thank you for the information.

I have already checked the connector and it looks fine.

Is the iPhone X Schematics available yet though? I haven't seen them yet.

I have ordered a new screen and will test that as well.

I tried with a new screen but the touch still doesn't work. Unfortunately i will not be able to research this further as our customer didn't want to wait.
