My Nano shows firewire connected and won't clear

Sporadically my unit will display firewire connected when nothing is connected. At these times the message will not clear. Then magically it will start to work normally again

Try restoring the iPod with iTunes. Also, if the firewire sign shows up, try resetting it by holding down "menu" and "select" (center) for 10 seconds to reset.

If that doesn't help, it's possible something is shorting out in the dock port on the motherboard that is causing the sporadic activity.
