Can I replace the logic board with a late 2009 21.5" variant?

simply put I have one of these old edu model imacs I want to upgrade to refurbish it, since if I’m going in I might as well go all in. will the 21.5” motherboard fit? I’m aware the io won’t exactly line up but I’m not too afraid of that much.

You are limited to one of these iMac9,1 logic boards.

Apple transitioned to a larger display which uses an LED backlight in the Late 2009 systems iMac10,1 which is why you can’t go higher.

Apple has moved on to more powerful processors i series over the Core 2 Duo and the OS and apps have also moved forward as well, so unless you have no need to upgrade your OS or apps this might be a dead end endeavor!

I'm not too worried on the os bit since I was planning on getting a newer ati/radeon mxm graphics card anyways so I can load seirra. and yeah Ideally if I could get the last variation of the duo logic boards or even the first gen core I series into this aio I'd of figured somethings would need to be replaced but I see what you mean now that I take a closer look at the way the displays are driven. with the late 2009 models using a separate board and the mid 2009 is all on the logic board.
