Can I use parts from a A1237?

Hi.

I have just been given a Mac book air A1304, long story but basicly the screen, hinges and top case are scrap, I've had a look on eBay and the only ones on there are for the A1237 model, will these fit my A1304 13.3"?

Thanks

David

Here's the answer from the exact same question asked last year. The answer is no: Are Display and upper case the same in A1237 and A1304?

Personally, as the display unit 661-5732 costs about $650, I would contact Apple about their flat rate, $350, all inclusion repair service. You can try a Apple Retail Outlet or try their 800 number, at 800-275-2273. It costs you nothing to ask and may be a way to really get this thing fixed at a discounted price.

Thanks for that answer, I just followed your link, which was helpful, but I then looked at the items for sale on this website, and the Compatibility for both the LCD assembly and also the top case are for both the 1.6 and also the 1.86, which seems to indicate that I could use these parts from an A1237 for my A1304?

Am I just missing something?

OK, I have just had another look and there seems to be two upper case models, the original that will only fit the 1.6,1.8 -

MacBook Air (Original) Upper Case with Keyboard

and also the 'late 2008/mid 2009 model that will fit the 1.6,1.86 and 2.13 -

MacBook Air (Late 2008-Mid 2009) Upper Case with Keyboard

So I guess I just have to make sure I don't get the Original model?

I thought rom your post that both the top case and the display unit were damaged.

Why the downvote?

yes both the LCD assembly and the top case are damaged, it seems the LCD assembly as compatible with both the A1237 and A1304 models, but there are two top cases, only one of which will fit the A1304?
