Won't charge, any ideas?

Hi,

iPhone 3G stopped charging, but speaker and mic works ok. Swapped the dock connector / speaker assembly for an old one which had a duff speaker. Phone charged fine. Tried 2 x brand new dock connectors but just getting sound but no charging.

Why would it work with one dock connector but not the other?

All screws are in place bar the two in the bottom of the phone, all connectors are in place securely

It's driving me mental now!!!

Hi thanks for your answer. Wha bit exactly would I resolder? Would it just be take off the no 4 ribbon cable and dock itself? A total of 4 things to unsolder and resolder?

by

only the speaker portion from connector 4 on the dock connector.... as the speaker is housed inside the dock..(it's the 2 solder points above J3)

I'd desolder the known working charger/dock port from the duff speaker and solder it to the good speaker. Then what does it matter? problem solved.
