All you need to stop wool from being itchy is a large bowl or vat of cold water, a splash of white vinegar, some conditioner and a towel. Start by adding the splash of white vinegar to the cold water. Submerge the wool into the water and let it soak for about 15 minutes. Take it out of the water and squeeze a good dollop of conditioner onto it. Massage the conditioner into the wool and leave it like this for half an hour. Rinse out the wool thoroughly and put it to dry on the towel. Once it’s dry, your wool will no longer be itchy!

Thanks. But it's not a sweater. It's a doll's hair, made from wool

It's wool. doesn't matter if it's on a sweater or on a dolls hair!

Give it the Sinéad O'Connor look if all else fails.

There are some commercially available wool washes made just for this! My favorites come from knitpicks.com, but a quick search will provide several from Amazon and other retailers.

The washes will come with instructions, but to avoid matting of the wool, do not apply high temperatures and friction. Use room temperature or cold water and only soak and “massage” the wool (never scrub it).
