any ideas on how to get hatch unlocked and opened

Next option:

1. Begin by pulling the back plastic cover on the inside lifegate away.

2. The cover will not completely come off so don't stress.

3. You will need to reach down by the locking device and until you feel a little lever, once you push on it you will hear the locking device click.

4. Pull up on the the gold looking nob or climb out and the lifegate will open.

Note. Once you do this if the lifegate will no longer lock either the actuator or the locking device is bad..
