Proximity sensor won't work.

I have replaced the front assembly on my iphone 4 and it went smoothly. Everything seems to be working properly except the proximity sensor. It won't even kind of work, it will absolutely not go dark EVER.

I restored it because I read that may help if it's a software issue. Is it because of the shiny purple tinted screen? It is just a design flaw or is there something I can do to fix it?

I had exact same problem w mine. I did the electrical tape with two squares cut out over the sensor and now it works great. You just cut a small piece of tape and cut out two squares over the two sensors on the phone not the LCD. The sensors are still open to receive light it just goes around them. I'm not sued how it works but it did. Hope this helps.

Chances are there was a piece of film that you did not transfer at the time

take it apart again, get the old panel and compare to see if it has one

If not, clean these parts or you may have a more serious issue

Do you mean the blue film on the back of the front piece. I took that off... What could the more serious issues possibly be? any idea?

Did you swap that over? if not,you will need to find that or find a EXACT MATCH like it at a craft store to fit it in place, and the material needs to match in color, density, and type of material
