lisawaller you are not giving us a lot to work with. We need to know what exact model your TV is. Panasonic Plasma TV commonly uses the 8 blink code for a failed SS board as well as an SS2 board. Either one of those can be faulty and generate the 8 blink code. You also want to check the connector on the ribbon cables.

Here is the official description

8 Blinks SOS: Pin 10 of the Application Specific IC – ASIC (IC5000) monitors the status of the SS board. During normal operation, a low from the SS board (SS33) is output to pin 10 of IC5000 from connector A3. If an abnormality is detected on the energy recovery circuit, pin 10 of IC5000 goes high. This change of input, causes the voltage output a pin 12 to change. This change of voltage is provided to the Peaks-Lda3 IC (IC8000). As a result, the unit shuts down and the power LED blinks 8 times.

8 Blinks condition is also caused when the connections between the panel’s flex-cables and the sustain board are broken or the connector are not properly seated.

You can always post some good pictures of your boards and the interconnect wiring so we can try to assist you with the troubleshooting. Adding images to an existing question

P50ST30. 8 blinks. I went from a 14 blink code to an 8 blink code. I changed the SS Board. Still 8 blinks. Cables seem to seated correctly. Based on your answer above, I could not find Pin 10 nor A3 connector. Different model ? Any other help available ?

@J M probably different model. I'll check closer once I get home. For now I seem to recall there are issues with the grounding screws on that model. There was some arching from solder points to ground etc. Take a look and make sure that all the grounding screws (those are the ones that attach the board to the chassis are nice and snug and check the ones on the SS board. See if there was some arching. Maybe for now, apply an isolator (felt washer or similar) between the screw and the board.

Do 1 & 2 together.

1] Press and hold in the on/off switch.

2] Press and hold the red button on the hand set for 30 seconds.

This will reset the PANASONIC TV.

This solution cost my £85 and the techy was in and out of my house in 5 minutes!

Robbery.

Kind regards
