How long will my battery last?

While I am not giving up on this notebook over the battery as I can replace it when things get worse (and it’s in the pipeline after I address the hard drive cable and thermal paste anyway), I am wondering how long I should expect the battery to last before it fails. I have posted CocunutBattery data and have confirmed it’s a Dynapack battery, so I do believe it is aftermarket based on that alone. I have tried calibrating it 2 times and it keeps coming back, so I am leaning towards the pack using a cheaper BMS that doesn’t handle calibration properly.

While I do plan on replacing it as soon as possible, how long should I expect the battery to hold a charge before it fails? I checked it for expansion and it doesn’t show any signs of that issue, so the battery is otherwise in good shape. What I’m doing on my end to extend what life is left is I am charging it when it hits 30% charge if at all possible, so I can get some extra time out of it before I need to replace it.

That appears to be your original battery. Check the manufacture dates. Usually the batteries date is within the prior month of the machines date. Which yours is.

The box the machine came with said swollen battery, which mine was not. At this point, I think they reused an old box they had around to ship it and didn't take that off. The reason I thought it was aftermarket since most of the '11-'12 machines are old enough aftermarkets show up in them a fair bit. I don't understand why you wouldn't cross that out or scratch it out so you can't tell.

Anyway, yeah - that's why I checked. It was more so I have closure on the matter since I wasn't entirely sure if it was true or not. It sounds like I have time to shop around if the battery is original to the system with such a good capacity.
