Why is my display flickering?

I have a 2013 late MBP with a Retina display, and the youngest of my indoor cats decided to see it my computer was edible and began to gnaw on the upper left portion of the screen when I was sleeping the other night, and I woke and noticed the below marks on the screen. That said, the screen now has intermittent screen flickering issues.

Is there a way I can fix this issue without having to replace the LCD / display assembly. I am not opposed to disassembling the display assembly if there a permanent fix for the display.

@ipatch since this started with your gnawing cat it is definitely related. Sorry, there is no repair for that. You will have to replace the display to repair this. MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Late 2013 Display Assembly Replacement
